How to clean: skylight windows

Here at OVA8, we provide a wide range of accessories to help our customers deliver a professional finish, every time.

We understand that some windows on both residential and commercial properties can be difficult to clean. OVA8 add-ons including the 70-degree Swan Neck. Our Dual Head Angle Adaptor can reach even the tiniest of nooks and crannies.

Skylights are on the rise, especially on residential properties, as more people are extending their homes.

Skylights are a great addition to any extension, as they let in plenty of light. Usually without the risk of being overlooked by other properties, as they’re usually installed in the roof.

Looking upon a clear day and seeing a grim skylight is never good. We strongly advise you get a professional water fed pole window cleaner to help clean up your dirty windows.

Trying to clean skylights yourself is dangerous and precarious. It’s almost guaranteed to end in either an injury or a poorly cleaned window.

Clean safely

Waterfed poles are the best way to clean skylights, as most are usually located high up on the house, meaning a window cleaner who uses traditional methods would struggle to reach, and would probably need to use a ladder, which would increase the risk of an injury.

Depending on the height or location of a skylight, you may have to perform an assessment before cleaning it. If there’s a few skylights on the property, perhaps offer to clean one of the skylights so the customer can see the professional finish? That way, they might be more inclined to use your services in the future.

Skylights are one area that get dirty quicker, as sometimes, they can collect residue from roof tiles, guttering and walls, especially in bad weather.

Using a waterfed pole is a great option, as they leave no watermarks or streaks, and the job can be completed in a matter of minutes.

Regular maintenance is important, as it means that the customer is getting their money’s worth out of their expensive skylights!

Orangeries and conservatories are another tough job for many traditional window cleaners, and this is another job that’s perfect for waterfed poles.
