Why are water fed window cleaning poles becoming so popular?

The poles were first introduced in America within the 1950’s and gathered sales momentum throughout the following decades.
It wasn’t until purified water was used in conjunction with the poles that things really changed for the better in the late 1990’s.

Since then the water fed pole system has moved from commercial window cleaning to also residential window cleaning.
Two main factors played into the system’s advantage,
1. Health & Safety Guidance was introduced stating ladders should not be used where a procedure for remaining on the ground exists.
2. The speed and excellent results rapidly helped window cleaning businesses clean more windows and therefore earning potential rocketed.

Advancements quickly materialised such as the original aluminium poles were replaced by Glassfibre, but in the early 2000’s the biggest advancement was the introduction of cost-effective Carbon Fibre poles. These are lighter and more rigid than their predecessors, opening up a strong manufacturing industry in Europe and China.

Over the past decade, a wider range of carbon fibre grades became available and have resulted in an array of various pole options being sold. The advantage to the end-user/operator of the pole systems is the ability to work longer and have more control over the pole.

Often poles are made in a round form shape, as this is easy to mass manufacture, however, the disadvantage was found to be spinning sections after a short period of time and uncontrollable even when modified clamping systems were redesigned.

One solution that has been successfully launched in 2018 is the OVA8 pole. Guaranteeing to prevent spin, utilising its patented two flat side shape, they have provided a real solution and provided additional benefits to the end-user/operator, such as hand ergonomic. Again allow the operator to work longer without as much hand stress.
The introduction of anti-spin poles has been so successful, leading brand manufacturer Unger has introduced a range of anti-spin poles in March 2021.
